Blackpool boss hands out some right royal plaudits

After his understated (bordering on sedated) start to the season, Blackpool manager Ian Holloway is getting back into his stride with his zany quotes. This is his second post on OTP in two days, so he must be doing something right.

This time Olly has been suggesting that his squad deserve to be knighted and invited to Prince William’s wedding to Kate Middleton on account of their Premier League exploits so far this season (Blackpool’s, not the happy couple’s).

While the Royal Wedding might, to most folk, appear to be mutually exclusive to the Seasiders’ early season form, Olly sees things a little different. So on the day the OTP Podcast bestowed an honorary knighthood upon Sir Dimitar Berbatov, Holloway has suggested all of his players deserve a similar honour.

He said:

“I am just bursting with pride. If I could give them all a knighthood, I would. They were absolutely superb and I’d better get hold of Will and say, ‘Why don’t you invite them to the wedding, my old cocker?’ – because they are filling this country with a bit of joy.”

Apparently some fussy etiquette coaches are now recommending that “my old cocker” is not a suitable term of address for the second-in-line to the throne, but OTP prefers it Olly’s way.
