OTP readers, I give you exhibit A: a photograph of Stan Collymore autographed by Aston Villa’s new hero Darren Bent.
Dig a little deeper and you will notice that the ex-Villa striker admits he has been critical of the Villains’ latest big-money signing underneath the autograph!
Over to OTP fan Kevin Jones to explain:
“I was at Villa Park for last week’s match against Man City. After the game, I was lucky enough to meet Darren Bent. He was very much in-demand after scoring the winner on his debut, but he was happy to sign autographs and pose for photos.
“Unfortunately, I didn’t have my match programme with me so I asked the guy next to me if he’d mind ripping a page out of his for me to get signed.
“Darren duly obliged, although he did look a bit puzzled at the single sheet of paper flapping around amid the double-page Bent posters everyone else was getting autographed.
“Only afterwards did I notice that I had got Darren to sign a photograph of Stan Collymore!”
Not only that, but it turns out that Stan acknowledges he has been a bit nasty to Bent in the past.
His column reads: “Darren Bent is among the strikers I’ve sometimes criticised over the past few years but I would like to offer him a warm welcome to Villa Park.”
As you can see, Bent also managed to sign-off Andy Gray’s career!
