Marvin Morgan: a footballer who’s more menacing on Twitter than Robbie Savage

Another footballing Twit

It turns out that OTP got off quite lightly with Robbie Savage’s Twitter tirade against us yesterday. Aldershot Town player Marvin Morgan has found himself in hot water after tweeting that he hoped the club’s fans died.

Ironically, just like Savage’s beef with us, it was the subject of being booed by your own fans that sparked the controversial tweet.

After Monday’s defeat to Hereford, the 27-year-old tweeted: “Like to thank the fans who booed me off the pitch. Where’s that going to get you! I hope you all die.”

Morgan has now been fined two weeks’ wages, banned from playing for the first-team and put on the transfer list.

A club statement said: “The player accepted that his conduct was totally misguided and inappropriate and he accepts that his actions were incorrect and ill disciplined.

“Accepting that his actions had been foolish he explained that they had been made in the heat of the moment and apologised for the distress he had caused.

“The football club are satisfied that the player meant no malice with his comments. However they were completely irresponsible and contrary to the values of Aldershot Town Football Club. The player has also undermined the good work that he and his colleagues have done servicing the local community.”

Oh well – shouldn’t have Shot his mouth off. Now they want Shot of him. And other assorted Shot-based puns.
