Seasiders secure Battle of the Pools double
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Any Liverpool fans under the impression that Kenny Dalglish’s return would spark an immediate revival in the club’s fortunes have been served up a definitive answer by Ian Holloway’s Blackpool.
Liverpool suffered a second defeat of the season to the Premier League new boys. But first they were treated to another false dawn as Fernando Torres (looking like the Torres of old) fired them into an early lead.
But Blackpool fought back with goals from Gary Taylor-Fletcher and DJ Campbell to secure all three points.
The very fact that Sky’s commentary team described Blackpool goalscorer Teylor-Fletcher as “a self-confessed Liverpool fan” says a lot about the situation in which the Reds find themselves:
“Hi, my name’s Gary and I’m a Liverpool fan. I’ve been trying to wean myself off them by occupying myself with other teams on a Saturday afternooon, but I feel like I’ve really been battling against them this week.”
The big question is will King Kenny blame Woy or Rafa? Hodgson was still claiming the team was not his own when he left, so will Dalglish follow suit and maintain that the damage was done by Benitez?
