Not so Fab

Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas has taken full responsibility for his side’s Champions League defeat to Barcelona after gifting possession to his former club for their opening goal.

Fabregas tried a clever backheel on the edge of the Arsenal penalty area. The ball was intercepted by Andres Iniesta, who played a super ball to Lionel Messi. And, well… you can guess what happened after that.

Last night, the Gunners captain felt compelled to tweet an apology over the incident.

He said: “Great support from the Arsenal fans. I take full blame for the result tonight. One of the worst moments of my life. I apologise.”

I hadn’t seen Fabregas’ comment on Twitter. As much as the first goal was a sucker-punch to Arsenal’s hopes, the fault doesn’t lie entirely with him. Feel a little guilty about him saying it was one of the worst moments of his life.
