Mario loses it

Mario Balotelli was sent-off for a kung-fu kick to the torso of Dynamo Kiev’s Goran Popov as Manchester City crashed out of the Europa League.

Although City won 1-0 on the night, they went out 1-2 on aggregate. Bearing in mind that the first-leg was largely disrupted by Balotelli’s grass allergy, he has almost single-handedly ensured that Roberto Mancini’s men did not progress. And the manager was not happy.

He suggested that the young Italian would be dropped for Sunday’s clash with Cheslea.

Mancini said: “”I don’t think he’ll be in the squad. I don’t know if it was a red card or a yellow card, but when you play a game like this you should pay attention.

“Mario thinks he could be a fantastic player. When he does something stupid like that, it’s difficult for me.”

The red card came in the first half, forcing City to play for almost an hour with 10-men. And that wasn’t even the worst bit of Balotelli’s night. Watch this space…
