Forget your prawn sandwiches at Old Trafford or hobnobbing with the celeb fans at the Emirates. If you’ve really got it and want to flaunt it, it turns out you should be watching your football at Peterborough United.
Posh have just launched a £15,000 season ticket for the 2011-12 campaign. The lucky fan – who could treat himself and eight mates to Real Madrid season tickets, if he preferred – will buy himself the title of ‘honorary director’ and watch all the club’s matches from the directors’ box.
The honorary director will be offered a season-long all-you-can-eat offer on pies. And trips to away matches as a guest of another director will also be thrown-in with your ticket price.
A Peterborough spokesman said: “It is the first time we have done this. We had some seats left in the director’s box so we decided to launch this ticket.
‘It is a lot of money and we have no idea what the response will be like, but it’s something different so we hope people will go for it.”
To put it in perspective, the most expensive ticket currently available in the Premier League is a £1,825 Arsenal season ticket.
