Love, love, love
Real Madrid’s on-loan striker Emmanuel Adebayor showed a hilarious lack of awareness by vowing to score against Tottenham tonight to keep his many fans at Arsenal happy.
The ex-Gooner is reviled by the club’s supporters for his apparent greed in wanting to leave to join Manchester City, numerous outbursts during his time at Eastlands and, most notably, his length-of-the-pitch celebration after scoring against his former club.
But as far as Adebayor knows everything is rosy with his ex-employees.
He said: “At Arsenal the fans loved me, I think even today they love me.
“When I was playing for Arsenal there was a big rivalry between the clubs, it’s a big derby, and I always had chances to score against them.
“Tottenham are a fantastic club and I respect them a lot. Hopefully I will have a chance to score against them again on Tuesday, but what matters for me is that Madrid go through.
“I hope I can contribute to that.”
He stopped short of bragging that Arsenal fans still sing songs about him!
