The cost of avoiding relegation

Roberto Martinez has had to interrupt Wigan’s celebrations at avoiding the drop to appeal for the safe return of his wallet.

The joyous Latics boss threw his lucky coat into the crowd at the Britannia Stadium following the 0-1 victory that secured Premier League football for next season for his side.

But the Spaniard has since realised he forgot to remove his wallet from the jacket before giving it away!

Martinez said: “I was so thrilled I threw my jacket to the fans but I think I might have left my wallet in it!”

An extra end-of-season treat for one Wigan fan.
