Thanks to Dirty Tackle for spotting that the USA appear to have turned up to the Women’s World Cup dressed as nurses.
They obviously decided to take Sepp Blatter’s advice on sexing up the women’s game on board and have commissioned Nike to produce a nurse’s uniform kit.
Back in 2004, Blatter said: “Let the women play in more feminine clothes like they do in volleyball.
“They could, for example, have tighter shorts. Female players are pretty, if you excuse me for saying so, and they already have some different rules to men – such as playing with a lighter ball. That decision was taken to create a more female aesthetic, so why not do it in fashion?”
Blatter might not have got exactly what he wished for, but a nurse outfit can only be viewed as a move in the right direction. There are probably a few more sartorial suggestions the FIFA President would like to make to improve the uniform.
They should arrange a friendly with the Newcastle team for some sort of nurses v boyband match.
