OTP Podcast: Episode 35 – Shoddy Timing
Right, we’ll come clean – this week’s show was recorded on Monday night, because nothing exciting ever happens on a Tuesday, does it? Oh. Chelsea’s dramatic win last night means pod pundit Alex is still being scraped off a ceiling somewhere in West London, somewhere in Switzerland a poor UEFA jobsworth is hastily adding ‘giving your opponent a dead leg’ to the list of red card offences in the Champions League rulebook, and unfortunately there’s nothing in the show about any of it.
In slightly older news, it’s all been blown wide open… AGAIN…
Who’s going to win the title? Who’s going down? Problem is, until it happens, we just don’t know.
But what we do know is this: our very tired title race door metaphor still has legs (just about) and it’s a next stop: Championship for Terry Connor and his Wolves team. That jubilant post-match interview with Big Mick and George Elokobi on the final day of last season seems like a long lost dream right now.
Something else that’s certain is that the Off The Post Podcast is back for another week, and this time around we’ll be tickling your eardrums with the following:
- Why Roberto Martinez must spend most of his free time in Currys
- Styling tips from Papisse Demba Cisse
- A very painful refereeing decision in Italy
- The best birthday ever at Stamford Bridge.
Pictures and Videos:
Juan Mata: creative midfielder, an impeccable grasp of the English language, and now the brains behind this marzipan-based masterpiece as this was the cake he got David Luiz for his 25th birthday. Many happy returns indeed.
Italian Ref Daniele Doveri really shouldered the blame for this decision in the Serie A game between Napoli and Novara. Ouchy.
Nothing like redesigning your home kit to make it look like your players have bodies of marble to intimidate your opponents. Or in this case draw 1-1 with your fiercest rivals and get two men sent off. Looks like its back to the drawing board for the Reggina kit man.
We decided to bring novelty cheques straight back from the 90s in celebration of the pod’s very own Ben Davies completing this year’s London Marathon (the only thing missing was Keith Chegwin to present it).
It even has a security seal that is a hologram on Mick McCarthy’s face so you know it’s legit.
Unlike Big Mick’s beloved Wolves though, Ben managed to successfully limp over the line (despite a minor Demba Ba-esque knee explosion), doing us all (and George Elokobi) very proud, so well done sir. If you’d like to donate money for the children’s hospice that Ben was running for, you are very welcome to do so on his sponsorship page.
