talkSPORT’s Graham Beecroft was uncertain about Brendan Rodgers’ decision to put his faith in young winger Raheem Sterling over the last week.

So much so, that ahead of the Europa League clash with Hearts he threw out a couple of factual inaccuraces, referred to Sterling as Smalling and then launched into the most ridiculous, rambling, nonsensical metaphor you’re ever likely to hear.

Of Rodgers’ selection of Sterling, he said: “The worst thing he can do is put him on and, like some bud which is just beginning to flower, you know, feel the frost of a big Scottish defence upon him, which might destroy him forever.”

Well, he came through that nasty Scottish frost, Graham, and also braved up very well to the top-of-the-range luxury weedkiller of a Manchester City defence yesterday!
