Out-of-favour Manchester City defender Kolo Toure reportedly gave away his Community Shield medal in protest at being snubbed by manager Roberto Mancini.
The 31-year-old was not picked for the victory over Chelsea and, as a consequence, was not overly appreciative of his silverware.
The Ivorian centre-back exchanged angry words with Mancini after giving the medal to a fan, the Mirror reports.
And images appearing to back up the claim soon appeared on Twitter, with photos showing a City fan proudly posing with his very own winners’ medal!
Toure looks set for a season in limbo at the Etihad. Unwanted by Mancini, valued at £3 million by the club and picking up a tasty £120,000-a-week that will put off most suitors, Kolo’s set for the sort of long-term sitting around that’s enough to drive you to diet pills.
