Dutch midfielder Edgar Davids has confirmed he has joined League Two side Barnet as player-coach.
The former Ajax, Milan, Inter, Barcelona and Tottenham player was most recently in action for Crystal Palace and is still based in London.
He tweeted: “Happy to say I will join my local football club Barnet as a player/coach.”
The 39-year-old will become joint-manager alongside the recently appointed Mark Robins, but is also expected to put his boots back on within a couple of weeks.
The Bees director of football Paul Fairclough said: “The capture of Davids is a statement of intent by our club to improve results and lay further foundations for the future.
“Edgar is a world-renowned footballer and will be a great example to all our young players.”
Davids added: “I’m happy to explore my possibilities and share my knowledge and experience with Barnet.
“I am very excited about the challenge ahead.”
Barnet have picked up just three points from 11 matches so far this season.
