Newcastle United squad do their own Bushtucker Trial

With the new I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here series recently started, and the hosts Ant and Dec huge Newcastle fans, the Newcastle squad have this week run their own version of the Bushtucker Trial.

Players and staff were treated to the opportunity to hold snakes and spiders, and also offered the chance to eat some ‘strange’ delicacies.

Alan Pardew explained the reason for the frolics:

Ant and Dec are big fans of Newcastle, so in their honour we had a bit of a Bushtucker trial. People have been running out of the door – like Andy Woodman, our goalkeepers’ coach. Steven Taylor was putting hairy spiders on everyone. It’s been fun.

We have not had the best of weeks, we all are just as much annoyed as the fans after last weekend’s performance and result, so it has been a nice morning.

I had a little hold of the iguana, the spider. I didn’t eat anything, though.

Beats going to strip clubs, setting off fireworks or firing trainees with air guns I guess.
