Footballers are not know as the most humble bunch, and Spartak Moscow’s Nigerian striker Emmanuel Emenike has done little to change that particular mindset.
After hitting a run of good form last season, 25-year-old Emenike was linked with moves to Chelsea, Spurs and Juventus.
However, as Spartak have struggled in the league this season so has the Nigerian’s form. The striker has not scored in his last five matches and was left out of the side for the recent league game.
Thankfully, rather than pulling up his socks and working harder, Emenike decided to take the very public footballer approach, telling newspapers that he has struggled for goals because his team-mates are jealous of his ability:
Maybe they envy me, because this season I have not got as much support from my team-mates as in the past
Yeah that’ll do it son, they’ll definitely pass to you now.
