You’ve got to feel sorry for Carling. All those years they sponsored a pretty rubbish League Cup competition, and then the minute they hand over the sponsorship rights it becomes the most exciting cup tournament in world football. Or something like that.

The latest installment in a Capital One-sponsored series entitled ‘How Not To Defend’ was served up at Stamford Bridge last night, where it finished 5-4 to Chelsea in their match against Manchester United.

The visitors had set the pace for much of the match. Indeed, Chelsea’s first extra-time goal was the first time they had held the lead in the entire match.

Only an Eden Hazard penalty in the dying seconds of normal time took the game to extra-time in the first place. But in the end Chelsea got some immediate revenge for Sunday’s controversial Premier League defeat.
