Metro newspaper robs Bradford of their victory against Arsenal

Posted by - December 12, 2012 - Arsenal, EFL Cup

In a move that will do little to quell suggestions in the north that soft southern meeja types are only bothered about anything that happens within the M25, anyone reading the free Metro newspaper will see that they’ve decided to award Arsenal a draw in last night’s Capital One Cup match against Bradford.

The game in fact went to a penalty shootout in which the Bantams secured a famous victory… but that’s not the way Metro saw it.

Presumably in a defiant stand against the cruelty of losing on penalties, the paper instead reported on a draw between the two sides with the headline: “Bantams wait as Arsenal are held.”

Somebody is probably regretting sending that to print before double-checking that the match was actually over.

Someone also needs to tell Calendar that we’ve been going 109 years and not 101.
