Preston manager Graham Westley refunds fans’ petrol money after postponed game

This video will give you a little bit of Christmas cheer, as it shows Preston manager Graham Westley paying for the petrol money of a number of fans that had travelled in a minibus to the away game at Bury in the Johnstone Paints Trophy, only to learn that the game had been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Westley, who it would be fair to label as a ‘character’, also bought the fans a can of pop which is a lovely gesture, but the incident does lead to one small question – how much did the fans ask for?

Given that the two grounds are 26 miles apart by the quickest route, the fueal cost would be £6.33. So if there are ten people in the minibus Westley is looking at 63p each. Seems a slightly futile exercise but a lovely touch all the same.
