Reading manager Brian McDermott almost missed the chance to run the rule over his fringe players after a steward wouldn’t let him watch a reserve match.
The Royals boss had travelled to Bournemouth to watch his second-string in a behind-closed-doors friendly. But he was refused entry to the stadium when a steward said he couldn’t prove his identity.
The steward eventually realised the error of his ways and let McDermott into the match. We like to think McDermott might have Googled himself on his phone and shown this to the steward.
The incident, which happened on Tuesday night, was the last thing McDermott needed coming just 24 hours after their 5-2 defeat to Arsenal.
