GIF it – Stoke midfielder Glenn Whelan’s horror tackle against Manchester City

Posted by - January 27, 2013 - FA Cup, Manchester City, Stoke City

We can only hope that Tony Pulis, who has a habit of defending his players whilst criticising the actions of opposing individuals, does not embarrass himself by attempting to justify the decision-making of midfielder Glenn Whelan.

It was wild, it was reckless, it was dangerous, and it should be severely punished.

With all the midweek chat regarding Eden Hazard’s charge from the FA over the ballboy incident, this is five times as damaging to our game. The only thing to be thankful for is that Javi Garcia, the recipient of the awful challenge, was not badly injured.

And stoke fans wonder why their team are constantly slated for thuggish anti football? They are a disgrace!

Whelan should be banned from playing football for a minimum of 3 months with no wages, all players who commit this type of attack should also be banned for 3 months no matter who they play for.

I am not sure what is more worrying. That Howard Webb saw it and deemed it a fair tackle or that Whelan deems it a fair tackle???? Whelan calls it a man’s game, but with players like him it is a man’s game with broken legs! I now see what Arsenal fans have been complaining about all this time.
