Luton devise a plan to help Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea to deal with crosses

Ingenious. Got a keeper who’s a bit dubious underneath the high ball? Simply place a sign saying ‘CLAIMS SPECIALISTS’ behind his goal facing the opposition strikers for the entire match.

They won’t even bother crossing the ball anymore knowing that the goalie would only claim it from the air like a specialist in any case.

The idea belongs to Luton, but could easily be adapted by Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea to compensate for his own flapping frailties. Alas, the breakthrough might have come too late.

Today’s papers are claiming Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to ditch the Spaniard. The Mirror reports that Fergie is not happy with either of his keepers and is ready to bring in Champions League-eligible reinforcements.

Stoke City’s Asmir Begovic and Liverpool’s Pepe Reina are the two players mentioned in the article.
