
Manchester United chief executive David Gill is set to head the club’s efforts to sign his near-namesake.
The Red Devils are reportedly interested in signing 18-year-old Atletico Madrid goalkeeper David Gil.
United scout Martin Ferguson, Sir Alex Ferguson’s brother, has been keeping a close eye on the Spain under 20 international and the club don’t seem to have been put off by their previous experiences of signing keepers called David from Atletico.
In fact, many United supporters would probably favour giving their 55-year-old chief executive a chance between the sticks ahead of De Gea.
