Manchester United flop Bebe scores for Rio Ave to give them cup success
It has not been a great two years at Manchester United for £7.8million signing Bebe. Two league appearances, a four-game loan spell at Besiktas that was ended after he broke a team curfew, and the now constant feature of inclusion in many a ‘worst ever Premier League signings’ list.
However, a ray of light for the forward, and possibly United fans too. Because Bebe has now landed at Rio Ave on loan, and he has actually scored for them in just his second appearance.
Rio Ave faced Maritimo in the quarter finals of the Portuguese League Cup, and gave the striker his first start for the club. Remarkably, Bebe scored the only goal of the game to send Rio Ave through to face Porto in the semi finals.
And what a goal it was too.
Ridiculously, it was just the seventh competitive goal of the striker’s career. Which isn’t exactly world-beating
