Referee fouls Zenit’s Viktor Fayzulin with two-footed lunge

It’s just good to see a referee finally take a stand. With crowd, managers and players all screaming abuse as they do their job, it was only a matter of time before one snapped.

Bader Abdullah is the man to step up to the plate, although he cleverly chose his moment suring a friendly match between Shakhtar Donetsk and Zenit St Petersburg. Nice and low key.

As Russian midfielder Viktor Fayzulin was waltzing past the official, he faked a slipped fall and dived into a two-footed lunge on the playmaker. It’s fair to say that Fayzulin looked rather bemused by the whole thing, whilst the referee simply had to give Zenit a free kick and apologise to all concerned.
