Earlier in the week we brought you the above GIF of Leeds United’s Rodolph Austin, who had a shot from his own half at full time in his side’s FA Cup victory over Spurs.
The shot went in, but we assumed that no-one minded too much because Leeds still won the match. Well, one unlucky punter would care to disagree.
The gambler placed a £3 Lucky 15 bet on correct scores in Sunday’s FA Cup games. Unbelievably, he called Oldham 3-2 Liverpool, Brentford 2-2 Chelsea and St Mirren 3-2 Celtic all exactly right, which is just absolutely ridiculous.
His final score was Leeds 3-1 Spurs, and he was therefore denied by the blowing of the full time whistle by Kevin Friend, just as the ball sailed into the goal.
The punter did still win over £17,000 with his three correct selections, but that was £490,000 less than he could have had!
One suspects that that can’t have been the first bet he has put on in his life if he has spent £3 on something so seemingly speculative.
