Video: AC Milan’s Kevin Prince Boateng leads team off pitch after racial abuse
AC Milan’s friendly against lower league side Pro Patria was abandoned yesterday after Kevin Prince Boateng was racially abused.
The former Spurs and Portsmouth man belted the ball in the general direction of the monkey chants before stripping out of his AC Milan kit and leading his team-mates off the pitch.
The move was praised on Twitter by the likes of Patrick Vieira, Rio Ferdinand and Vincent Kompany, but has been criticised by former Milan star Clarence Seedorf.
He said: “They should just be identified and kicked out of the stadium, and leave the 90% that were enjoying the match in the stadium and finish the game.
“If Boateng was able to identify the whole corner, you just kick the whole corner out, That is how I think it should be handled. Walking away? Yes you send a signal. But this has happened more than once and I don’t think it really changes all that much.
“We are just empowering that little group with their behaviour to make this mess.”
Boateng himself tweeted after the incident: “Shame that these things still happen… #StopRacismforever.”
