Frank Lampard’s preference is to make a summer move to Manchester United when his Chelsea contract expires, according to the Daily Star.
The reports follow suggestions that Chelsea had yesterdat performed a U-turn on their decision to move Lampard on and offered the England midfielder a new deal. That talk of a new deal is said to have bemused the Lampard camp, suggesting it is news to them.
With the 2014 World Cup now looming and in the absence of a new contract from the Blues, the 34-year-old is believed to be leaning towards a £65,000-a-week deal for a year at Old Trafford, plus a further 12-month option to extend his stay.
Lampard is in demand around the world but while United’s offer wouldn’t be the most lucrative on offer, it would be the one most likely to cement his place in Roy Hodgson’s England squad.
