Whilst you were sleeping last night, the USA and Mexico (the two favourites to lead the CONCACAF qualification group for the World Cup) got their campaigns off to fairly dreadful beginnings.
Whilst Mexico were held at home by lowly Jamaica, the American’s lost in Honduras to sit bottom of the group after one round of matches. However, Honduras’ winning goal was worthy of winning any competitive game.
The ball was crossed from the right, where it was chested back across goal. Juan Carlos Garcia then got his foot higher than most people can get their head in order to perform an acrobatic overhead kick.
The most impressive element of the finish was the power generated by Garcia, and the ball flew into the top left hand corner of Tim Howard’s net, giving the goalkeeper no chance.
