Manchester United fans collectively held their breath (and Manchester City fans wondered if they were destined to retain the Premier League title after all) when Robin Van Persie picked up a bizarre injury during Saturday’s win over QPR.
In straining to cross the ball in the build-up to United’s opening goal, an off-balance Van Persie tumbled backwards off the pitch and straight into a cameraman’s pit.
RVP struggled on for a few more minutes before being substituted.
The good news for United fans is that the Dutchman’s injuries appear to be restricted to severe bruising. He will sit out their match against Norwich next weekend, but is expect to be fit to face Real Madrid in the Champions League next week.
