Mansfield Town owner gives manager Paul Cox an Aston Martin

Mansfield Town fans would have been rather pleased with their side’s 8-1 home win over Barrow, but one suspects that manager Paul Cox was the happiest man at the club after owner John Radford gave him an £85,000 Aston Martin.

After Mansfield beat the same side 7-0 last season, the owner told Cox that if they could better that result he would give him the car. The Stags were 5-1 up by half time when Radford arrived, and declared at eight with 20 minutes still to play.

Not only the car, he also had personalised plates attached to the car (MT51 COX).

Radford said:

It’s worth a bob or two. It’s my old Aston Martin so it’s not brand new. It’s a couple of years old. You have these things and you’ve got to give people targets and things like that, so he fancied the car and I thought I’m about ready for a change and he did the job.
