Video: The FA’s new Football Mash Up viral (featuring a few painful looking headshots)
Anyone else spot the pitchside hoardings imploring you to “Search Facebook for ‘Football Mash Up'” during England vs Brazil? Well, this is what it was all about.
The FA and Vauxhall have launched a new viral campaign aimed at stopping 14-17 year-olds dropping out of football. The idea is that you can fit football around your lifestyle, if you want – it doesn’t have to be the other way round.
And what better way to entice the youngsters back to the beautiful game than a viral video featuring people being smacked in the head by a ball several times.
The message seems to be that you can use football to have a laugh and mess about with your mates. If you prefer skills and crazy stunts, that’s as much a part of the game as joining a traditional team. In other words, you can mash football up to make it what you want it to be.
They’re encouraging people in the target age groups to try out a training session with a Football Mash Up officer (aka an FA-qualified coach with a specialism in larking about)
