This Rio Ferdinand mess seems to show no sign of abating.
After the Manchester United defender pulled out of Roy Hodgson’s England squad for games against San Marino and Montenegro, Ferdinand then made the decision to make a 15-hour round trip to Dubai in order to carry out some punditry for Al Jazeera.
During England’s 8-0 win over San Marino, sections of the away support could be heard to give Rio a torrent of abusive chants over his alleged half-arsed attitude to the national team, and there is no doubt the man could have avoided hearing that.
But Ferdinand spoke to defend his decision last night, as shown above.
My view? A silly sh*tstorm over him going, but surprised (or am I?) that he didn’t realise he would be opening himself up to criticism from some parties.
