Manchester United forward Bebe, currently on loan with Portuguese side Rio Ave, revealed some rather entertaining behind-the-scenes information on Sir Alex Ferguson’s regime yesterday.
Spilling the beans to Mais Futebol website, the £7 million man highlighted the antagonistic relationship between the United manager and regularly under-fire winger Nani.
Mentioning the duo’s friction, Bebe said: “Alex Ferguson is always complaining with Nani. Maybe because he always expected him to be the new Cristiano Ronaldo.”
Despite the apparent tension (you can see Fergie barking at Nani in the video above), it looks like there’s no blind hatred towards the Portugal international; the manager reserved his venom for the referee after Nani’s red card played a key role in United’s exit from the Champions League this season.
If the Scot was irked by that initial comment, he won’t be much more pleased with Bebe’s assessment of his time at the club.
Recalling his days in red, the 22-year-old said: “I never took Manchester United seriously and never understood a word about what Alex Ferguson was saying.”
Speaking further on his novel interaction with Fergie, Bebe added: “Alex Ferguson asked me to cut my hair. I did it, but in the next day I’ve passed around him many times and he didn’t recognize me.”
All this from a chap who wants to return to Old Trafford to prove himself. The phrase ‘shooting yourself in the foot’ comes to mind!
