Liverpool want Barcelona’s Cristian Tello in Pepe Reina deal
Liverpool will attempt to bring talented Barcelona youngster Cristian Tello to Anfield as part of any deal that takes goalkeeper Pepe Reina to the Spanish champions.
Barca want to bring 30-year-old Reina to Camp Nou to replace Victor Valdes, who is expected to leave the club this summer.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to factor a move for Tello – who has an £8.5 million release clause – into a £10 million deal for Reina, the Mirror reports.
The 21-year-old has impressed and shown consistent improvement during his regular appearances in Barca’s first-team this season. The Spain Under-21 international is comfortable playing wide or in a central attacking role and has bags of pace.
His playing time for the Catalan giants has mainly been from the bench, and he has made just 11 starts so far this season. Rodgers will hope the offer of first-team football can lure the youngster away from Champions League football.
But the Ulsterman would be equally happy to keep Reina at the club as he is keen to keep the Spain international as his number one.
