Alex Ferguson’s first Manchester United team-sheet set to go up for auction

Alex Ferguson’s departure from Manchester United may seem a lifetime ago amidst football’s rapidly developing soap opera, but marks of his legacy still remain.

Typically, this means that people are looking to cash in on his retirement, and there is certainly big money to be made on any memorabilia Fergie-related.

One Oxford United fan has been waiting for this moment, because he possesses Ferguson’s team-sheet from his first ever match in charge of Manchester United, a league defeat to Oxofrd in November 1986.

Auctioneer Andrew Aldridge explained the lot:

“The team in November 1986 was a little different to the star-studded affair for Sir Alex’s last game in charge that included global stars such as Robin van Persie, said auctioneer Andrew Aldridge.

“The first match included names such as Chris Turner in goal, Paul McGrath at centre back and Peter Davenport up front.

“The present owner is a life-long Oxford fan and it was given to him by Peter Rhoades-Brown, an Oxford player, as a souvenir.”

Good one Daniel although I read the story a few days ago, but some light – hearted relief from this madness of the transfer speculation.

    I bid 2/6- and three jam jar’s.

No seriously I hope the owner of the magnificent piece of memorabilia makes plenty of moolah profit.

Now only if the team’s playing were Manchester United and Oxofrd, you could easily double the reputed 20k starting price.
Can I respectfully enquire are they open to being paid by Pay Pal? :)
