And a media bandwagon begins – Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere tweets picture of his son in Barcelona kit
This summer promised to be enjoyable for Arsenal fans not just because they had qualified for the Champions League, but also due to the fact that for the first time in almost living memory, no club was circling around one of their star players.
Whether that’s because they don’t have any star players is open to debate, but after Cesc Fabregas, Alex Song, Gael Clichy, Samir Nasri and Robin Van Persie all left for pastures rather more fruitful, a few months of rumours surrounding the recruitment, rather than departure, of players will be hugely appreciated.
However, star midfielder Jack Wilshere has now put the cat amongst the tabloid pigeons by tweeting a picture of his son in a Barcelona kit.
It doesn’t matter that it bears no relation on the player’s future, or that it makes no inkling of suggestion that, like Fabregas before him, Wilshere now has “Barcelona DNA’, because that’s not how it works. The media use such nonsense to create stories.
Just you sit back. And wait.
