Tottenham have turned down an offer of cash plus their choice of several Real Madrid stars for Gareth Bale.
Argentina international winger Angel Di Maria is among the players that Spurs have been offered, but the north London side are still refusing to contemplate letting Bale leave, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.
They want to offer the 23-year-old a new £170,000 a week deal to keep him at the club and are turning down any enquiries about Bale.
But the Welshman’s future is set to be this summer’s ongoing and mildly irritating transfer saga. Reports from Spain suggest that he is keen on a move to the Bernabeu, but wants to leave White Hart Lane with his nice guy image intact and not be seen agitating for a move away.
Sol Campbell will testify that it’s probably a wise policy to employ.
Bale, Liverpool’s Luis Suarez and Napoli’s Edinson Cavani are Real’s top three targets this summer as they seek to ensure that new manager Carlo Ancelotti hits the ground running.
