Steven Gerrard will sign a new two-year contract at Liverpool within the next 24 hours.
The Reds skipper is in the final 12 months of his current deal, but the 33-year-old will put pen to paper on his new contract later today or tomorrow.
The extension will keep him at Anfield beyond his 35th birthday and seems to indicate that he intends to finish his career at the club.
Gerrard’s agents have been in discussions with Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre since the end of last season. The two parties have now settled on a deal.
All that remains is the mere formality of the England captain signing on the dotted line.
