Manuel Pellegrini has hinted that Manchester City might be able to announce a new signing today.
The Chilean was speaking during the club’s pre-season tour to South Africa.
He said: “I don’t know if before we finish here in South Africa we will have other names for our squad. Maybe the next day we have some fresh news, but at the moment I cannot say.”
It is a bit unclear whether Pellegrini literally means the next day (which would be today) or if he is trying to say in the next few days.
Either way, the former Malaga boss reiterated that City are very much interested in strengthening their squad before the start of the new season – and he is not fussy about where the players come from.
He added: “We will try to have very good squad this year, as you say, we are in the market, we don’t know at this moment who is going to come here, but we are trying to get the best players to come to our squad.
“The second part of the question, of course, the doors are always open for young players, good players, South African players, European players, south American players, the ‘politique’ of the club is to try to reach all parts of the world, the best players of course, so that in the future they can arrive.”
