Tottenham’s deal for Croatian duo Tin Jedvaj and Alen Halilovic collapses over school fees
A widely expected Tottenham double signing has fallen through because of school fees.
Highly-rated Dianmo Zagreb pair Tin Jedvaj and Alen Halilovic were expected to move to White Hart Lane in a £15 million deal. But the move is believed to have collapsed, with the Croatian media speculating that the Halilovic family’s demands were the stumbling block.
Reports suggest Halilovic’s clan had demanded a €1.2m salary, a house for his family to live in and school fees for his two brothers. Spurs are said to have offered €800,000 and a house.
The Halilovics are now waiting to hear what Italian side Roma would be prepared to stump up, although they also have reservations that, aged just 17, he is too young to move anywhere.
Halilovic became Croatia’s youngest ever international when he made his debut against Portugal last month.
