Jose Mourinho has indicated he is plotting a move to bring Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney to Chelsea.
Rooney is known to have asked to leave Old Trafford at the end of last season, and Mourinho was fairly candid in admitting that he would love to see him at Stamford Bridge.
Mourinho said: “You know me and you know that it is not my kind of character to be or to speak with a little bit of hypocrisy. I always tell what I feel and what I think, and I’ve always told (you) that he’s a player that I like very, very much.
“But I cannot say more that that being fast and direct. I like him very much but he’s a Man United player.”
The England international flew home from United’s pre-season tour of Asia with a hamstring industry.
Mourinho also said that is pleased with new signing Andre Schurrle and that he was pushing for the move behind the scenes.
He said: “When I was faced with the situation that Andre was not far from being a Chelsea player, I gave the last push, because I like the player very much and I think that he’s a player that can give us a lot – because he’s an attacking player that can play in many attacking positions, in many different tactical systems.
“So he has qualities modern football demands from attacking players – he’s creative, he’s fast, he decides well, he has a good shot.”
