Did you know?
Van Ginkel joined Vitesse as a seven-year-old in 1999, making his first-team debut in April 2010.
What’s the deal?
Chelsea have confirmed they have agreed to sign the Dutch international, subject to a medical, personal terms and legal documentation.
The 6ft 1in youngster has had an impressive campaign. Van Ginkel bagged eight goals from midfield as Vitesse finished fourth in the Eredivisie. He picked up the Dutch Talent of the Year, given to the best played aged under-21 in the league.
What do they say?
“It’s the plan that he’ll join the Chelsea squad, learn a lot and play on a regular basis. It all looks very positive but he must make his own decision. I told him that opportunities like this don’t come that often and, if you get a chance like this, then you must do it.”
