Arsenal are set to return to Newcastle with an improved £17m bid for Yohan Cabaye – and they’ll offer £10m for goalkeeper Tim Krul, according to reports in today’s newspapers.
The Sun on Sunday claims that Arsene Wenger is ready to up his offer for France international midfielder Cabaye from the £10m he initially offered to much nearer the Magpies’ £20m valuation. Reports in the Metro newspaper suggest that French side PSG will continue to challenge for Cabaye’s signature and are also preparing a £17m bid.
But, as if he hasn’t irked the Toon enough, Wenger will launch another bargain basement bid, this time for keeper Krul.
The Netherlands international has long been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, but the Gunners have never firmed up their reported interest.
That could be about to change, despite the fact that they are also scouting a trio of keepers on the continent.
