David Moyes: ‘Everybody tells me Man Utd vs Liverpool is a big rivalry’
Manchester United manager David Moyes says everybody tells him there is a big rivalry with Liverpool, but appeared to be reserving judgement until he had witnessed it for himself.
Asked about the rivalry, Moyes said: “Well, I didn’t know yet because I’ve not been involved in it yet. I know everybody tells me [about] the big rivalry between Liverpool and Manchester United.
“It was certainly that when it was Everton as well.
“I’m looking forward to it, part of coming to Manchester United is to be involved in these sort of games.”
The Scot conceded that it would be a big win for United if they pull off a result at Anfield on Sunday.
He continued: “Well, just the same as it goes anywhere else, it’s no different. You can only get three points for the win. But obviously it’s a big win if you can do that.
“Liverpool will be one of the strong teams this season, and if we can do that then I think that would be a good start.”
Moyes also said that Wayne Rooney was “mentally” in good shape ahead of the match.
