Liverpool are hoping to pip Merseyside rivals Everton to the signing of Guilherme Siqueira.
The Toffees have reportedly had an agreement in place to sign the Granada left-back for most of the summer. But the Spanish outfit and the player both know that the move is conditional on Leighton Baines joining Manchester United.
Roberto Martinez only wants Siqueira at Goodison Park is he loses the England international.
Liverpool could take advantage of the uncertainty with a bid of their own. The Daily Star reports that the Reds are planning an £8m bid of their own for the 27-year-old.
Siqueira is keen to move this summer.
He said: “I had a very good offer from Valencia last year and the club decided not to sell me.
“I simply told the club’s president that if there is another offer this year, that he should let me make my dream of playing for a big European club come true.
“He said yes, that he would help me. And this is what’s going on. If the offers that are coming are good for the club and for me, I think it’s the right moment to sell me.”
