Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Valencia left-back Aly Cissokho on a season-long loan.
The 25-year-old, capped once by France, has long been linked with a move to Anfield.
The deal, which has been agreed in principle by the two clubs, will probably include an option to make the move a permanent one at the end of the season.
Cissokho rose to prominence during a six-month stint at Porto, which included some impressive performances in the Champions League.
He spent the next three seasons at French side Lyon, before moving to Valencia last summer. He made 11 appearances and scored one goal last season.
He is believed to be Brendan Rodgers’ second-choice option to provide competition for Jose Enrique after the Reds failed to agreed a fee for Granada’s Guilherme Siqueira.
