Newcastle owner Mike Ashley responded to Arsenal’s £10m bid for Yohan Cabaye by asking which part of him they were hoping to buy for that price.

The comment was made directly to Arsenal’s contract negotiator Dick Law (great name for a lawyer, by the way) as the pair discussed the bid, the Daily Telegraph reports.

They quote Ashley as saying: “Which part of him do you want to buy?”

Law is said to have replied: “No, we want to buy all of him. The player wants to play for Arsenal.”

Ashley pointed out that the Magpies’ French midfielder has three years left on his contract and suggested that the Gunners up their bid to around £20m if they are serious about signing the 27-year-old.

Meanwhile, French side PSG are also rumoured to have bid for Cabaye.
