Spurs boss Villas Boas isn’t sure Gareth Bale will join Real Madrid, wishes Willian well at Chelsea

Tottenham manager Andre Villas Boas says he isn’t sure whether Gareth Bale’s transfer to Real Madrid will go ahead.

He acknowledged what the world knows – that Real are interested in signing the Welsh star – but insists he isn’t sure whether Bale will move to the Bernabeu.

He said: “There is interest from Real Madrid, but I’m not sure if the transfer will happen or not. Hopefully you can have more news in the next couple of days, but at the moment there is nothing that I can tell you.”

Of course, AVB has also had the annoyance of seeing one of Bale’s would-be replacements poached by Chelsea.

But despite missing out on Willian, he was feeling magnanimous after yesterday’s win against Swansea.

He said: “Willian has made the choice to join Chelsea and the only thing I can wish him is good luck because he’s a person who I have a good relationship with so good luck to him.”

And the Portuguese boss added: “He made a choice he feels is important for his career so good luck to him.”
