Spurs goalscorer Andros Townsend says that’s what he has to do
Spurs youngster Andros Townsend says displays like the one he gave against Dinamo Tbilisi last night have to continue if he wants to make his mark at the club.
The 22-year-old scored a superb solo goal to open the scoring in the 5-0 away win, and then went on to set-up two more goals. And afterwards he said: “That’s what I have to do.”
The England Under-21 international know he will have to continue to perform if he is to play regularly in Andre Villas Boas’ strengthening squad.
He told the club’s official website: “Every time I get a chance I have to continue to be effective in matches, to score goals and make assists.
“Hopefully if I get another opportunity I’ll do the same.”
Townsend spent the second-half of last season on-loan at QPR, which was the latest of a series of loan spells away from White Hart Lane. You sense he recognises that this season will be make-or-break for his Spurs career.
